TOEFL Preparation Course

The TOEFL (Test of English as a foreign Language) measures the level of English language proficiency of non-native speakers of English. It is written and published by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) of Princeton, New Jersey, USA. The TOEFL is an admissions requirement at over 2,400 colleges and universities in the United States and other parts of the world. In addition, many schollarship and professional certification programs now require their applicants to take the TOEFL.

The First Certificate in English

The First Certificate in English corresponds to Level Three in the Cambridge ESOL five-level system. It also corresponds to the Association of Language Teachers in Europe (ALTE) level 3 and Council of Europe level B2 Vantage.

Listening Comprehension: Everyday vocabulary is streesed throughout this section of the book. FOr example, all idioms used are specially marked by bold italics either in the text or in the Tapescript. Students should be encouraged to try to figure out the meaning of each idiom from the context in which it is used.
Structure and Written Expression: This section of the course provides a comprehensive review of the grammar tested on the TOEFL.
Reading Comprehension: The Reading Comprehension Section of the TOEFL tests comprehension of the readin passages through questions about the topic, facts and details, inferences and implied information, and the author's purpose, attitude and tone in the passage.
Test of Written English: This section of the course provides a review of skills and strategies for academic writing. It is meant to provide students with guidelines for essay writing that will satisfy criteria used by readers who score Test of Written English (TWE) essays.
